Week 37
I can't believe it's week 37, it means that only 11 weeks of the therapy remains. Wow! Time flies when you are having fun :-)I don't have much to write about. And as about side effects, I had a couple of headaches last week and dry skin in the corner of my left eye. I still go to the gym nearly every day, trying to put on weight as I lost 9kg.My appetite increased, I can eat a horse most of the days :-)My hair stopped falling out, which is great news. I lost about 40% of it and was getting depressed because of it ( hair-loss is the hardest side effect, no doubt about it)I try to rest as much as possible as I do get tired sometimes.Otherwise Im ok.
P.S. by the way, I bought myself a new Ipod :-)

Week 28 - Something to smile about.
Saw my nurse yesterday and was given the most amazing news ever - I was undetactable on the 10th of August - week 24.
Didn't know how to react... I was speechless at first, then started smiling as if I won a lottery. I was still smiling when I left the hospital, smiling while driving home and probably smiling while being asleep last night LOL
The bad bit is that my weight is at its lowest - 63kg, it means that I need to take less tablets now and try to eat as much as possible to fatten up.
The most important thing is that I feel fine, feel healthy, feel as if I was given a new lease of life....yes, definetely, I have something to smile about LOL

Week 26
Hey guys, Im away till the 31st of August. I have no idea if Im undetectable or not, my blood test results will come back in 5 weeks time from Nottingham Hospital.
Right now Im chilling out by the sea.... working hard on my sun-tan ... my mobile isn't working here... I have no internet access in my room... time kind of stands still and I love it :-)
I started reading books again... what an achievement!!!
Hope you are all well.
Loads of love

Week 23
I wish I had genotype 3 instead of 1 because I'd be almost at the end of my tx.
But Im not as lucky as those with number 3, so I will have to be patient for another 25 weeks.
Have no choice really....
I went to see my nurse on Friday, she was supposed to give me a bag full of Interferons and Ribas, but instead she gave me nothing and asked me to come back in two weeks time.
Im not sure if I mentioned here that I wasn't undetectable at week 4 and week 12, which makes me a slow responder. At week 12 my viral load dropped from 250.000 to less than 615, so my doctor was happy to carry on with my tx. And I was pleased with myself too because I achieved a significant drop anyway.
I went for a blood test on Friday and I think my doctor wants to know if Im undetectable this time before he gives me my next supply of medication.
What's gonna happen to me if it's not undetectable? Will it mean that Im a non-responder? Will it mean that I'll finish my tx next week? I've only got one more enjection to do next Thursday ( there's only one Interferon left in the fridge)
Deep down Im quite excited, can't wait to lead a drug free life again LOL thick of taking Ribas every day and watching what I eat and drink.
The thought of new HepC drugs being tested on people right now as I write helps me stay optimistic. Im sure I will have another chance to get rid of the virus in the near future.
Let's see what happens in two weeks time when I see my nurse again. Will they stop my tx or not? :-)
To be or not to be, this is the question :-)))))

Week 21
It's week 21 of my combinational therapy, I have no regrets so far :-)
My life has never been better, I look healthy, I eat well, I still go to the gym 4-5 times a week.
Shorter hair proved to be a success with the general public, I recieved quite a few compliments.
My hair is still falling out but noone noticed it yet :-)
Im very happy at the moment and hope that all of you are happy too.
Love and hugs.

Bee Pollen
Do you like honey? I can't live without it :-) If you are exactly the same as me you will love Bee Pollent too.
I take it every morning with my freshly made juice and then fly with a speed of a giant bumble-bee LOL
It gives me energy, impoves my mood, helps me fight depression ( I don't take anti-depressants).
Bee pollen is 100% natual product made by bees.
I can't recommend it enough, my skin and nails never looked so healthy before. I look younger now and my friends started to notice.
My aunty Lina swears by it, she's been taking it for 3 years now with great results day after day.
The power of Spirulina.
I discovered Spirulina (blue green algae) in March 2007. I was looking for some kind of natural vitamin supplement, as I take 5 tablets of Ribavarin every day I just didn't want to add anymore pills. Obviously I was worried about my digestive system being able to cope.
Luckily I came across this magical seaweed that was used centuries ago by tribes in South America as superfood. Apparently it contains all the necessary vitamins, minerals and proteins.
Spirulina was successfully used for treating children of Chernobyl that were badly affected by radiation. It boosts immune system, gives energy and clears brain fog.
I felt the powers of Spirulina almost immediately, I mixed one tea-spoon of it with my favourite smoothie, drunk it and in half an hour I was running around my flat as one of the Stepford's wifes - cleaning, washing, ironing and dancing in between LOL I even managed to clean my fridge, something that not many people love doing.
I told my best friend about it, she bought it and just after 2 days of taking it she felt as if she was born again, she had bags of energy and a clear head.
My mother takes it every day with a glass of water, I don't know how she does because it tastes faul ( I must warn you), it takes some time to get used to the smell and taste of Spirulina, but once you notice the benefits, you will be addicted in a good sense of it :-)

Hair-loss is inevitable
What can I say? It's sad to see my hair all over my pillow every morning, seems like Im not getting away from this side-effect of combinational therapy. But as you can see Im very well prepared to combat the first signs of hair-loss LOL
There is no miracle cure for a hair loss induced by combinational therapy, but there are some great products that can help the rest of your hair look fabulous! And so far noone noticed that I lost 30% of my hair during last month, Im very pleased with myself! LOL

Weird skin disorder.
Im not sure if it's a side effect or something else, Im really tempted to see my GP and ask for some gel or cream to get rid of it. I had this little red spot the size of 5 pence coin on my belly for 10 days now and it doesn't go away. It doesn't itch, it doesn't do anything but annoys me :-)
Have a look and tell me what you think.

Week 15 - spending my money.
Hi everyone!
Life is great at the moment, summer is finally here and I feel like going out every day :-)
As you might have noticed I had my hair cut, which turned out to be a success with my mates, they all loved it. Short hair is perfect for summer and perfect when you are on combo treatment :-) - hair loss is less noticeable...
As I've lost about 7 kg of weight I had to do a bit of shopping for new clothes, which was a success too. I picked two funky designer t-shirts in TKMaxx, went to the till to pay £40 for both of them, gave £50 note to a girl on the till, she started flirting with me, complimented my choice of t-shirts and then gave me receipt and £40 change. Automatically I put it in my pocket, walked out from the shop and went to Argos to buy myself a new digital camera. Only while paying at the till in Argos I realised that I had more money on me than I should :-)
I thought of going back to TKMaxx and returning the money, but then I changed my mind :-) It wasn't my fault that the girl on the till was brain-fogged, was it? :-)
And why should I walk all the way back to the shop when I was feeling so tired after all that shopping?
So you tell me now - was I a bad boy for not going back to the shop and telling them that they gave me £40 change instead of £10? LOL
Can't wait for your views on that.

My doctor and me
Wednesday, 9 May 2007
I still go to the gym.
I still go to the gym, 4-5 times a week. I don't exercise as much as before, don't have the strength and stamina. But if I don't go to the gym I feel like a vegetable and I don't sleep very well. I enjoy swimming more than ever now, it's so easy to do and the benefits are enormous. Water can be very relaxing and soothing, especially if you suffer from Riba-Rage like myself LOL
Riba-Rage
Im tired of that, yesterday I had it again at work, one of my colleagues annoyed me so much, I wanted to hit him with something heavy :-)
I used to be such a nice, kind, sympathetic person... where is that person now? Im a monster, don't play with fire because you might regret it later :-)
By the way I do enjoy my rages, it's weird but true, they are good for you while on tx.

Things that make me happy!
There a lot of little things that make me smile, make me happy ... even if only for a while... it's still worth buying them... But then again they say "You can't buy happiness", but I always say "You can buy 15 minutes of happiness" :-)
Valentino sunglasses with Swarovsky cristalls is all I need while on tx :-) Here is me enjoying my 15 minutes.....

How to sleep better
Sleep is the most important thing for me. When I don't sleep properly at night my day is absolutely ruined, I feel tired, can't concentrate, can't function in the same way as I do normally.
My brain needs a very good rest at night, my body needs to restore itself. It's not secret that our cells restore themself during the night, so make sure you sleep well every night.
TEN SLEEPING RULES :
1. The best time to go to bed is between 9.30 -10.00 p.m. That's when our cells start to renew themselves. Apparantly, Hollywood stars know it so well that they even go to bed as early as 9.00 p.m. Now you know why they look so radiant and healthy!
2. Your bedrood is your sanctuary! Make you sure it's tidy, clean and simple. Open the window to let some fresh air in ( I always sleep better with the window open).
3. At 9.00 p.m. switch off TV and computer. You can listen to some relaxing music or read a pleasant book in bed, it will help you to unwind and relax your brain.
4. If you can't sleep at night, try to excercise during the day, you need to get tired so you body will demand some sleep at night. But don't exercise late in the evening as you will be too energised to sleep later.
5. Don't eat late at night, your dinner should be served not later than 6.00 p.m.
6. If you wake up in the middle of the night and can't fall asleep again, try eating a medium banana or have a glass of warm milk ( goats milk in my case). It works for me every time.
7. Invest into a pair of ear-plugs and a sleep mask if you are easily disturbed by noise and light. I was shocked how many people use them every night, some even can't sleep without them at all.
8. Don't wear tight uncomfortable underwear in bed, stick with loose and comfy undergarments. You body will appreciate it, you partner might not :-)
9. Always keep a glass of mineral water by your bed (I keep a bottle). Sometimes you can't sleep because your body is dehydrated. But don't drink too much water before you go to sleep either because you will spend your night going to the toilet instead of recharging your batteries.
10. If you do wake up during night to go to the toilet, my advice to you is not to switch main lights on. I always do it in the dark so I can easily fall asleep again. Bright lights make me fully awake and it's very hard to fall asleep after. Now you know why managers of chicken factories always keep bright lights on so caged chickens don't sleep, eat more and grow faster. Imagine if you were that poor chicken stuck in the cage???

Rest when you can.
I try to preserve my energy as much as I can. It's just something I can't afford to waste while on treatment. Try to have power naps if you can, they make big difference, trust me.
It's not always possible to get some rest during lunch time especially if you work, but there are some ways. You can just close your eyes for 10-15 minutes or even lie down if you have a sofa in your office. Many people work from home these days and they have no excuse not to have an hour sleep during the day. I urge you to do so if you can. Write your comments later.
